Live chat setup

Everything needed to run chat on your clinic's website: installing the widget, how it looks and behaves, routing and triggers, canned responses, and privacy.

01

What you can do here

Installation

Create a widget configuration and copy the snippet onto your website. Visitor data starts flowing as soon as the snippet is live. Copy for AI assistant produces an integration brief with your live configuration that you can paste into an AI coding assistant; it never includes secrets.

Multiple widgets

Run more than one widget from a single clinic, for example a separate one per website or brand. Use the widget switcher at the top to pick which one you are editing, New widget to add another, Rename to label them, and Archive to take one out of service without deleting it. Each widget has its own snippet, origins, appearance and keys.

Identity verification

When your website identifies a signed-in patient, your website integration uses the private signing secret shown here. Required mode rejects unverified identification, which is the recommended setting for healthcare.

Appearance & behavior

Pick a ready-made style template or customize colors, theme, launcher and position with a live preview. Selection menus explain the effect of each theme, position, launcher, identity, and routing choice. An unmodified template stays linked, so improvements to it apply automatically; the moment you change anything, the style becomes your clinic's own copy and the badge switches from system template to customized. When you publish, the new look, title and welcome text apply in real time to visitors already on your site, with no page refresh.

Contact details confirmation

The Behavior tab includes a toggle that asks every visitor to confirm their name, phone, and email after the first message of each new conversation, with known details prefilled. It keeps your CRM current even for returning visitors; the collected details appear on the contact record and its timeline. It is on by default and can be turned off per widget.

Triggers & canned responses

Proactive rules that open chat on the right pages, and reusable replies for your team. The starter library adds a curated set of common replies with one click; added responses become your clinic's own copies that you can edit, regroup or delete. The library shows each response's category and lets you reorder them manually, or restore a suggested order grouped by category.

Privacy

Data subject request tools: export everything stored about one visitor as a file, or permanently erase their profile, sessions, events, and transcripts. Both actions are recorded in the audit trail, and erasure asks for confirmation because it cannot be undone.

Follow these steps

Go live with chat

  1. Create the widget in the Installation tab and copy the snippet.
  2. Paste the snippet into your website's HTML, ideally just before the closing body tag.
  3. Confirm visitors appear under Live visitors, then tune appearance and triggers.
03

Helpful habits

  • Review the Privacy tab with your compliance owner before going live; transcripts can contain whatever visitors type.
  • Start with one or two triggers on high-intent pages rather than triggering everywhere.
04

Tips

  • The widget key in the snippet is public by design; visitor identity is verified server-side.
  • Canned responses you create here appear in the Conversations composer.
  • Move a canned response up or down to set your own order, or choose Use suggested order to group them by category again.
  • Publishing applies your changes to visitors currently on your site instantly; anyone mid-conversation keeps their chat history.
  • Rotating the widget key or signing secret asks for confirmation first because your website integration must be updated to keep working.
  • Deleting a trigger rule removes its effectiveness stats too; pause a rule instead if you may want it back.
